With the changing climate in the island of Ireland, the practical outworking of Restoration Ministries is also changing. After several years of reflection and prayer, we are being called by God to move on, principally to pick up many of the opportunities Ruth is now being called to. We believe that this is a challenging invitation to announce the good news of restoration, healing and hospitality to a much wider group of people, through writing, giving retreats and conferences, along with the enormous privilege of speaking directly into some of the areas of hopelessness, anguish and distress that form part of today’s church in Ireland and around the world. In all humility, it is to seize the opportunity, along with many others, to be bearers of a hope that can appear to be in short supply at the present time. You will know that over the past couple of years we have had a question mark over our financial situation. Like many other movements and organisations, our backs are to the wall because of the ongoing economic crisis. We have always sought to be wise stewards and have been overwhelmingly grateful for the way so many of you have supported us over the years. In addition to what I have shared already, the state of our finances and the building, our beloved Restoration House, have both giving us a clear message, namely that change is very much in the air. By the end of October 2011 we are pulling up the tent pegs and moving on. We need your continuing interest and especially we need your prayers. The maintenance of our building, along with the implementing of the increasing number of health and safety regulations, are all very costly. What Restoration Ministries has done and witnessed to in a quiet, often hidden but effective way over the last 23 years from this base stands on its own and for this we say “Thanks be to God!” Now we are having to ‘downsize!’ The sale of the house has been agreed and we are currently looking for a small base that could accommodate an office and perhaps a lounge where small groups could gather and where spiritual direction/prayer ministry could take place. The essence of the ministry will continue. For example, we would still like to offer a series of reflection days throughout the year, probably renting a facility from someone else. Hospitality, in its deepest sense, will still be our mantle and prayer will always be our heartbeat. We would still like to keep you in touch, via e-mail or newsletter, with the journey of faith and action that God dictates.
